At a Special Town Meeting held on December 16, 1963, electors of the Town of Durham adopted a resolution that created the Conservation Commission. The Board's authority is also derived from the Town Charter, Section 6 – 12 and Section 7 – 131a of the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut.
Duties:
- Negotiate any and all leases for the rental of open space land
- Develop and execute plans and programs for the conservation and use of open space land
- Delegate responsibility for the intensive management of any part of these lands to other public and private organizations for the benefit of the public.
